Peter W. Foltz, Ph.D., Chief Scientist/Vice President of Research

Peter Foltz is a founder of Knowledge Analysis Technologies (now Pearson's Knowledge Technologies group (KT)). Today, Peter directs research on new technologies and supervises government contract work. Peter has a doctorate and master's degree in psychology from the University of Colorado and was a post-doctoral research associate at the Learning Research and Development Center at the University of Pittsburgh. At Bellcore in the late 1980s, Peter developed personalization methods for constructing interest profiles and systems that filter out unwanted information using Latent Semantic Analysis. Along with Thomas Landauer, he is a patent holder of the KAT engine. Since 1995, he has also been a faculty member at New Mexico State University. He has published widely on information retrieval, natural language processing, educational technology and cognitive science.
